Lots of variety, everything was delicious and staff was nice. Both their Asian food and their American style food was good. My fiancé ate tons of seafood and found it to be great. I tested out the Chinese chicken and the almond cookies. We will be back!

Hmmm, it has been almost a year since I came here last time and here are some observations: Lunch M - F is now $10.59, the price went up compared to last year's lunch price. Restaurant had modeling work done, so maybe that drove the price up. Food selections were less than before. I noticed they were using larger tray for 1 item where used to be 2 items on small individual trays. Out of all the buffet bars minus dim sum / soups area and sushi area, I would say they have eliminated about 3 dishes per buffet bar. So that's total of 12 dishes (hot items). I also noticed that about half of my suggested items in previous review were no longer to be seen. Sorry Super Moon, only 2 stars for you now.

The food was fine what you can expect. However when your glass breaks over your food and all over you an apology from management is in order. The bottom came right off my glass and all I was handed was 2 napkins. Pretty substandard response in my opinion. I get it wasn't anyone's fault just would have been nice if management would have come over to see if I was ok.

Your typical Chinese buffet. The place is very spacious and clean compared to other buffets I've been to. They have a nice selection of foods including a Mongolian grill, dim sum, and sushi. Sounds good but not my cup of tea. Sushi was dry, hard, and blah. The dum sum I didn't get to try. They had a nice selection of food but it all tastes the same. Your typical beef and broccoli, squid, sweet n sour pork, egg foo young, & pot stickers to name a few. It wasn't good. The beef was VERY mushy and tasted very gross. I tried the pasta salad and spit it out immediately. It tasted rotten and old. I give this place 2 stars bc it tastes like ur basic Chinese take out nothing special and for $14 not worth it.

Working right across 394 we were really excited for this place to open up and give us a breath of fresh air to the normal stuff all around. Was a great buffet when it first opened. The food was always fresh, tasty and it was decently priced for lunch. However, as time has moved along, they must have changed vendors or something because the food has gotten to the point of not being edible. The chicken dishes are overcooked to the point of the batter being like a rock, the beef is tasteless with the texture of leather. Even the dumpings (pot stickers) are cold and tasteless now. The only reason I even go now a days is for the salad bar portion. But, that's even become mediocre at best. Go into STLP a little more and stop at Thanh Doh if you want Chinese, you won't regret it.

The atmosphere is really nice. Lots of room and a pretty cool koi pond. The seafood was probably the best part of the Buffett. Huge selection and it was cooked well. Great flavors. The beef and chicken options were inconsistent. Good flavors, but very overlooked. Sushi was good. Lots of choices. I did not have the Mongolian BBQ, but it looked very good.

One of my favourite buffet locations. Price are great for such a wide selection and good food qualities.

Your typical Chinese Buffet stocked with items from Asian Foods. However, it was pretty good for what it is. Reasonably priced at approx $10 for lunch. Sushi was not the greatest (but it never is at these types of buffets) and the Mongolian grill is pretty well stocked, if not a bit slow. There were a LOT of options on the buffet too....but what does garlic cheese bread and pizza have to do with Chinese food?

Good Chinese buffet. Tons of options here and all the food was fresh and being refilled quickly. I was surprised how many options they had. The place was packed when I ate there and the place was clean. Atmosphere is good here and the staff was friendly. Pretty much what you would expect out of a Chinese buffet.

It's a buffet and they have a lot of selections. Cool pond inside the building.

An endless ocean of tasty Chinese buffet food. The sushi was great, too! Can't go wrong with the super moon. I recommend this to all those who haven't ventured to the moon yet. To infinity and beyond!

Craving miles of Americanized Asian food options and having heard tales of the vast variety, we decided to try Super Moon Buffet. The restaurant looked relatively clean and the food assortment was enormous. The restaurant itself was enormous. I have never seen a Mongolian BBQ option at a buffet before, either, so that was an interesting touch. Sushi, salad bar, soup options and a typical array of Asian buffet food offered up some unique and some not so unique options. Overall, the fare was satisfactory. I did notice that the temperature issue mentioned by others was still a problem: the food temperature is NOT hot. It is not COLD, but instead exists in that tepid warm state that is wonderful for bacterial growth...approximately the temperature of the human body... which did not make the food any more appetizing. A few standouts I did enjoy: the coconut shrimp was delicious - I think they coat the shrimp with crushed frosted flakes before deep frying them and dousing them with a light, sweet coconut glaze. There was an egg custard resting inside a phyllo crust that was amazing. I've never had anything like it. There were also crayfish on the buffet line, which I wanted desperately to try; however, considering the temperature of everything else, I was not about to risk freshwater crustacean. I like my bugs steaming hot, thank you! I don't think we will return. Under slightly different circumstances, we might, but with a background in microbiology, I just couldn't stomach the idea of playing food-poisoning Russian Roulette too many times.

The restaurant area is quite large, but the food is substandard. It is very disappointing!

My wife had heard great things about this place, and I saw some good reviews, but in the end, I was very disappointed. There was quite a line to get in around 1pm on a Saturday, which I hoped was a good sign. We started by the door and had to wait perhaps 15 minutes to get seated. As we were shown our table, I noticed one of the chairs was splattered with food and some sort of sauce. I asked our host if it could be cleaned up and there was not sign that he heard me. I asked again, a bit louder, yet polite and he looked at me, seem to understand, and left. I waited...and waited. He came back twice to seat others but there was no one to come and clean the chair. Eventually I just swapped it out with a another one near by. We all got up to get our food and halfway through our first plate, nobody had come by to offer beverages. Finally my daughter flagged someone down and we were served. Refills were equally hard to come by and again, my daughter had to flag someone down. My first plate of food was aweful. The sesame chicken was a good, sickly sweet mass that could hardly be eaten. The pepper beef was chewy and gristly and equally as difficult to eat. I had several pieces of "sushi". This was perhaps the best item on the first plate but it was NOT sushi. Fake crab was as close as you'll get to sushi. I never saw the use fish once. Finally the pork egg roll had about 1 little chuck of pork, the rest being a limp, salty cabbage. My second plate, and the saving grace of this meal, was the cooked-to-order stir fry. Though the line was slow, being able to pick your own ingredients and having it made fresh resulted in a very good, though salty, second plate. The one knock was that even though it was a weekend lunch crowd, there was only one person cooking, he was cooking one dish at a time, and the line was loooong. Finally I had a plate of desserts. Standard Chinese buffet dessert fair...sugar puffs, soft service ice cream, and the cookies with the almond on top. Though the selection is huge, I was surprised to see I couldn't find some buffet staples such as kung pao chicken, general tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, etc. I would not choose this place again for a meal, but if my friends wanted to go, I'd stick with the stir fry. The atmosphere lended nothing to the experience either. I was just another in the herd making their way to the feeding trough.

Prior to going, I read a number of mixed reviews about this place, so I must admit that I was a little hesitant to try it for myself. This evening, my husband, 5 yr old daughter, 3 yr old son and I went there for dinner. This is the biggest buffet I've ever seen! So many choices-- salad bar, Mongolian stir fry, buffet sushi, fruit, Chinese food, kids food (ick) and even an "authentic" section. To be honest, I thought it was pretty expensive for dinner, so I would recommend going during lunch. If you aren't crazy about the seafood, avoid Friday nights and weekends. I'm happy with the quality of the food and would return.

I've eaten here several times. The food options are huge, and I have found it pretty tasty. I tend to go right before the dinner rush on a weekend, so the food is always hot and fresh. They have a few items here are really good, like the coconut shrimp and the black bean steamed buns. Overall, the food is worth the trip.

I used to LOVE this place. I would literally frequent here 1 time a month it seemed. Then things started to slowly become a issue. They have a large variety of food and options. Dim sum, sushi, Mongolian grill, salad bar, rows of asain dishes and even sometimes pizza. When we first started going their sushi assortment was amazing! Then in the recent visits we have noticed, the crab has taken over. We no longer see any salmon or tuna or really anything besides crab (which i assume is imitation). Other similar buffets are still serving up salmon in their sushi...and are priced much less! The price is just becoming too hard to bare for the sushi assortment we are seeing and other issues we are experiencing (these happen more often than not). We can arrive any time and lately we have been inconvenienced by large groups. We will arrive and the line will be out the door. That would be fine if their quality hadn't been decreasing. There will be large group of 20 people in line and they will sit at large tables. While you are waiting in line you will see all these groups and you will realize that they are literally just occupying space. Maybe one person may be casually nibbeling on stuff but the other table is just people sitting around and chatting. It must be some underground meeting spot that we have uncovered. Regardless it is ridiculous because you stand in this line and wait...and 20 minutes in people will come pushing their way to the front because they are with a large group that is in front of you. They do not have the space to organize it so smaller parties (4 or less) can get seated faster. We have also discovered in these large groups, these people do not have the only bad habit of sitting well past their welcome. They also are extremely rude and greedy. You will see at these buffets crawfish being served or crab legs (which are more work than what you will get out so dont bother). You will see the same few people from a group come and stand and wait in line and wonder whats going on. Then you will see the staff place a new batch out. One by one they will fill the largest dishes they could get their hands on with the crawfish. I have never seen such large servings in my life! And they will come up when the next batch is about to be put out. Shortly after the 4 or 5 of them go through there s NOTHING left for any one else. If you were looking to try something like this...good luck...because apparently this is a battle ground. The food is decent. They have a wide variety....however so do all the other asain buffets in the area. They are priced higher than some that are around on lake street and such. We used to love this place...but unfortunately we can not justify the cost and wait given the decreasing quality and lack of crowd control.

Plenty of selection. Plenty of food. Plenty of people that have been eating plentiful portions for quite some time. Not so tasty. Not so cheap. Not going back.

One of the better Chinese buffets in the Minneapolis area. They have an EXCELLENT selection of a wide variety of foods. American also. This place was very clean each time we visited. Food was excellent. Nice selection of foods to cook on the Mongolian style grill. It is not the cheapest but well worth a visit. The huge selection of food makes this Buffet very worthwhile.

This place is ridiculous. I assume every other Chinese buffet within 50 miles went out of business. It's huge. Not just the food selection, but the seating area, and if you come in on a Sunday afternoon, it'll be full. Of the local Asian community, with plates full of only the seafood. I assume it's the white guys eating fried rice that make the overall profitability of this place. There's sushi (mediocre, but meh), all the classic Asian-american treats, random stuff like Pizza or French fries, a shockingly decent salad bar, decent dim-sum, a "Mongolian-bbq" style build-your-own stir-fry, and a rather impressive selection of fresh fruit. Depending on the time and day, you can get shellfish, fried fish, steamed fish, crab, frog legs, and snails. Prices range from 10 dollars for lunch during the week to 16 on the afternoon when the seafood is out in full force. This includes drinks! Drink as much coke as you want! Tea also, which is better. Drink that tea. Overall, it's fairly cheap, hugely varied, and tasty.

This buffet is awesome! A decent sized selection of foods for under $10, pleasant service and a seemingly clean atmosphere. The food itself was perfectly warm, for the most part very tasty and there was an excellent selection to choose from. I only disappointment was with the sushi. It was ok but nothing too special. The layout of the place was also great. As you walk in and leave there are two nice Koi ponds to check out. The island that the food is laid out on us also nice and not too cluttered. I found plenty of fresh warm food and no big queues to contend with. There is a nice big mixed salad bar too. Overall this place was thoroughly enjoyed and well deserving of 4 or 5 stars. I would have given the 5th star had there been slightly more selection and the sushi had been a little nicer. A great place to check out though and somewhere I will certainly be returning!

If, on the food commodities market, cornstarch demand is up, I have seen ground zero of where the demand originates. Getting seated was a small period of time--and after being seated--enjoy the seeming calm, as it's the quietest moment of your visit. Sit down and begin to enter the whirlwind of constantly moving patrons, servers and chefs on the run...a parade of color, scents, movement, sound and constant food production & delivery. The array of foods served, and strong showing from Asian constituents probably is driven by the current economic conditions (this place is a deal if you have a place to put it all) rather than culinary authenticity. In fact, consistent with a 'farmer's market' in any city--or the wharves of Kowloon. If massive food intake is your thing--this is your target. If you seek a deft touch with seasonings and carefully crafted sauces, it's not. Platters of sushi disappear almost as soon as they appear. The Mongolian Grill chefs are constantly on the move as they prepare patron's preparations from the grill 'raw bar' of ingredients. If you DO seek endless assortments of sushi, refreshed on a frequent basis, and can wait for it to be refilled. it is probably the best buy in the Twin Cities!

My family wanted to grab dinner out somewhere; so, we decided on Super Moon Buffet. My family had been here before, but this was my first time. It's located right off 394, just exit off of Louisiana; it's pretty hard to miss. They have a private lot with plenty of parking. You're immediately greeted by two large concrete dragons at the front entrance. Similar to many other buffets in the area, it's decorated with koi ponds, Chinese art and the physical decor is very heavy in Chinese architecture. They definitely went all out and way above what you typically see; so far, very impressed. Since we arrived on a Sunday evening, the price was $16.99 per person (which includes beverages). At this point, I'm expecting a wide variety of items with better than normal taste/quality. The price point is definitely higher than the usual Chinese buffet. The place was packed at 6PM on Sunday night with 40 people waiting in line at the door. We were seated immediately after paying towards the back, by the hibachi grill. After I asked for a diet, I made my way to the buffet area. The variety of items is insane! They have all the usual suspects, fried rice, lo mein, sesame chicken, pot stickers, fruit and random deserts. For the more adventurous, they have steam fish, snails, steamed whole crab, fried squid, dim sum and lots of sushi. So, here's my take on this buffet place. There are many dishes that are fantastic. The steamed fish stays true to Chinese tradition and flavors (sweet soy, ginger, garlic and green onions), the mussels are steamed to perfection with a great black bean sauce, the steamed whole crab is full of natural flavor and the usual suspects have decent flavor. I had a tough time with providing 4 stars because there is a lack of consistency. I want to love this place because they do a lot of things right versus the run-down buffet attached to a strip mall. But consistency is key! The dim sum was dry, heavy breading on sesame chicken like items and the sushi was border line worse than what you find at the local grocery store. Like I said, I want to love this place, but they need to work on consistency :-) Regardless, still a great place to grab food Chinese buffet style. Definitely much better than the usual corner buffet joint!

I wouldn't say its magnificent but I wouldn't disgard it. It is a buffet. Newly open...less than a year. Great attraction for the first year with seafood such as whole fried fish which is a must, large mussels (they have about four kinds...not all are as tasty). Those are about it on the seafood end that I would recommend. Soup...who comes to buffet to have soup? Ah....and that is why it was bland and tasteless. There is a grill but Chef couldnt keep up almost the whole time I was here so I avoided it. Sushi. I wouldn't recommend. Very dry. Then again...who comes to a chinese buffet restaurant to have sushi?? Quite a few of americanized chinese food for those...'who don't know'... Two stars down: See above.

My husband and I ended up here for lunch one day. After reading some of the reviews we thought we would try it. The food was decent. It was nice to see hot food at the buffet and they were always refilling it. It just seemed to get cold really fast once we started eating it. The sushi was OK. Not the worst I've had and not the best. I would for come hungry if you wanted to eat here. There are a ton of choices.

This is a great buffet to take finicky eaters to cause there is something for everyone here. Although, the place is a little noisy so it could be difficult to carry on a conversation. Still the food is as good as any other buffet I've been to and the diversity of selections it has pushes it to be above par.

  • Rina B.

We decided not to visit any more. The service stinks. I don't understand how crabby the staff could be in a business that relies on hospitality. We used to come on a slow shift so we could enjoy the Mongolian Barbecue. However, no restaurant should be frequented when the serves seem to have a blunt expression, and they appear to be suffering when they have to smile.

Really loud because of so many customers. Waiter was not great. Requested for a both but replied rudely and said no booths open. I work with customers as well and honestly, no matter how bad of a day I am having, it's my job to perform well even for rude people. I would've replies, "I'm sorry, there aren't any booths available. If you'd like, when one opens up, I can reseat you." The food made up for the three stars. Great variety.

When my department hungrily decides to go to this place for an occasional diversion from the prison food that is served in our cafeteria, I always make sure I have a conflicting meeting. Yes, I've been here for lunch. Yes this is the place where you can gorge yourself into developing pre-diabetes. And no, this Chinese buffet isn't any different than any other Chinese buffet. In fact, the Chinese cuisine at our cafeteria is better. And cheaper. The dining space is pretty. But I just can't take it when I put the weirdest thing I can find on my plate, and it still isn't very good. It's a bit of entertainment while eavesdropping on surrounding customers creaming their jeans over the sweet and sour chicken.

Super cheap buffet and a large selection. BUT... (there's always a but) nothing was delicious! I was super excited for the Sushi bar but everything was really cheap and the sashimi was so tough. Dim sum is hard to come by in MN, so I was really excited to see dim sum served. HOWEVER.. (there's always a 'however' too..) it was so thick, stale, and tasted old. I think that's the thing: everything just tasted... .old. You'd be surprised how beautiful it is in there, though. Somehow they managed to turn an ordinary space into an indoor coy pond and garden theme. It must have cost a fortune to build that! Tip 1: IF YOU HAVE TO GO, I'd recommend that whole fried white fish. That's probably the best fish there, which is why it's always the first thing to go. Tip 2: If you shop at Rainbows in St Louis Park, their receipts always come with coupons for Super Moon buffet; you can get a couple dollars off!

I think either you're a buffet person or you're not. Me? I'm not. And yet I found myself at Super Moon for lunch one day with a friend. First, it's $8.99 for an all-you-can-eat lunch, so it's important to keep your expectations in line with that. You cannot go in expecting Alma quality food at lower than Old Country Buffet prices (seriously, this place is cheaper than OCB). I found that everything fried was awful (egg roll, cheese ball, fried corn, I would go on but I'm getting embarrassed listing all of the fried food I took). The aftertaste from the fried cheese ball made me wish I carried an SOS pad in my purse to scrub my tongue with. Blech. Whodda thunk you can mess up fried cheese... The vegetables, on the other hand, were really quite good, the cauliflower especially, but also the broccoli, asparagus and eggplant (which I normally detest, but another Yelper mentioned the egglplant so I tried it and they weren't lying, it was really good.) Everything else (noodles, sushi, dessert) didn't make me want to scrub my taste buds off, but didn't make me want to finish either. My friend hated almost everything, but he can be a real pain in the ass. And I hope you like old people b/c this place is crawling with them. Fortunately I love old people an enjoyed chatting with one elderly woman who told me that she's already been here 3 times. So clearly someone thinks it's worth 5-stars.

Way too expensive for a Chinese buffet (around $16 per person for dinner). We waited over half an hour in line for a table, and there was no way I was going to wait in the horribly long line at the grill. The desert selection was very bare, and there wasn't much I couldn't find at any other Chinese buffet. The only thing I did really like was the sushi, which I am very leery of trying at other buffets. It was constantly taken and replenished so I knew it was fresh. I would maybe go again during lunch, but definitely not worth the dinner price.

Wow, I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised after my tragic visit to another Chinese buffet a few weeks ago. Located in an old Fuddrucker's building, I expected a wide open expanse with some buffet tables. Upon reaching the door I knew I was in for something else. Two large dragons flank each side of the door. Upon entering you'll feel like you're getting in line for a ride at Disneyland. You meander through a line that takes you past large koi ponds and waterfalls until you reach the hostess station. I felt like I was back in Chinatown in San Francisco with the addition of heavy wooden beams and green porcelain roof tiles. The line stretched out the door when we got there, but I think it took us less than 15 minutes to get in and be seated. Buffets tables are too numerous to count. From sushi to mongolian bbq to dim sum to chinese to roast beef and mashed potatoes, there is something for everyone. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the salad and desert bars! This definitely rivals any buffet you'll find in Las Vegas. If you go and give it less than four stars get real -- this is a buffet -- it's not fine dining! But as far as buffet goes it's the tops! And for $13.99 for dinner (including beverage) you'll certainly get your moneys worth.

I've never been a big buffet person, I'm always suspicious of the food quality at all you can eat type deals. But, when I came here with some coworkers for lunch last week, I was pleasantly surprised by their selection. I was a bit thrown off by the clash of the large stone dragons and yellow awning exterior. The interior is quite nice with it's cleanliness, indoor koi pond and wood accents. This particular location was also very busy as other reviews mentioned. But remember, you're not at a sit down restaurant, it's a good sign when there are tons of diners at a buffet, it means the food is frequently being cycled and replaced. Now to the food, there was some serious selection at Super Moon. The sushi was nothing to write home about, it was all about the same with small variations in the sauce, vegetable or meat filling. Most contained surimi (imitation crab) or shrimp but there were some rolls with what appeared to be legitimate sashimi and masago (the bright orange fish roe, or better known as caviar). The fried food selection was pretty standard Americanized Chinese, but I was impressed with their selection of vegetable dishes as well as some more traditional options. They had fried octopus, eggplant in brown sauce and whole fried fish (I think it was tilapia). To finish it off, I was able to get my hands on some fresh lychee. If you like buffet style restaurants, Super Moon is worth a visit.

I am not a buffet fan as all the food usually tastes the same. This is the first place in Minnesota that was different. It was great. Such a large, fresh selection and each food item tastes like it should. Take time to chew your food and you will enjoy so many flavors. The service is fast and the room is large enough so you can enjoy a private conversation. I usually use a coupon and save a buck, but it is worth full price. The price is higher at dinner, but I do not notice a difference in the items offered at lunch. This place is usually crowded, but as I say, the room is large enough to not be an issue and I do not like noise or crowds when I dine out. I do like the gold fish in the two ponds and wonder if it is by design. When you walk in, the fish in the pond are small and skinny, when you exit the pond of gold fish are large and fat! LOL... The food at Super Moon Buffet is excellent. .

Above average selection of decent food. Went on a Saturday night and waited twenty five minutes to get a table. The wait staff needs a lesson on friendliness ,courteous service was lacking..The fellow diners were a nice mix of people... mostly families, some unruly but nothing too bad. The restaurant itself is nice, better than most buffets. Highlight dish was the peppered crab. Would I go back? Perhaps for lunch, when there is less people and less of a chance for germs spreading... buffets are not my favorite place.

This time I hit the buffet side while the people stacked up for the Mongolian grill part of the place. On entry it looked like a senior citizens bus had just stopped here. Lots of older folk. The woman ahead of me at the register just gushed about how this was her favorite place. Once paid and seated the wait person quickly took my drink order and I was off to the buffet. By 11:10 am they still had not loaded all the dishes, so I took my time to look over the layout. The well stocked "salad bar" portion had a decent selection along with tons of things to make your waistline expand. They did have some seafood (not just "krab legs") to select from. Behind the salad bar is a steam table with soups and dim sum type dishes. By 11:30 am they were just starting to put out the dim sum. The first buffet island was mostly deep fried appetizers. The second island had some stir fries and a couple of vegetable dishes. The rest of the islands seemed to focus on different proteins. As mentioned by others labeling is often non-existant or missing, so it could be almost anything. On to the food - pretty much tasteless. The green beans were good, they tasted like green beans. One beef dish had a piece of celery that tasted like celery. The hot and sour soup tasted good - after I gave it a good shot of sriracha sauce. If you are a fan of Chinese buffets you will like SMB. I, however, like to experience the sensation of taste, savor the flavor. I got none of that here.

$16 per person should be spent elsewhere. I was forced to eat there with my family and was unimpressed. I went again with my better half for a second opinion and we wondered why anyone would go there when you could get a fabulous dinner at Hong Kong Noodle for $7 or Don Yang for $10. I must admit that the food was prepared well but lacked any flavor, that includes the fresh fruit- which also had no flavor. The whole fried fish was prepared well but was slathered in a goopy saccharin sauce. The 5 spice squid was good, the walnut shrimp was acceptable. The most telling of situations is that people pile their plates high with craw fish-- so much work a so little payoff just head guts and not meat-- and they taste like the bottom feeding dirt that they feed on. If this is what people come here to eat , than please understand that it's the quantity, not the quality that makes this place so popular. We felt pretty cruddy afterwards. I wanted to detox at a juice bar and my husband said he had to clean his colon. Please pour me a Campari.

The buffet was your average buffet. Food was somewhat cold and lacked in flavor. The service was awful. Couldn't find my server for over a half hour to get a drink refill. The decor was nice though, the koi pond was a fun touch!

I saw this one from the highway headed south, and was pleasantly surprised at how busy they were, even at 2:30PM. Entryway is a stunning koi pond that definitely sets the stage for an upscale oriental buffet. I was fearful that, at this hour, the food would have been tired and stale, but the staff did a great job of keeping everything fresh and good looking, including the sushi bar that was so good, people were taking pictures. I'm not a huge fan of buffets, but this one is one of the best I've visited. Definitely worth a stop. And a great lunch for under $10.00! You bet. They would have received 5 stars, but come on, it's a buffet!!

I think that Super Moon's basic problem is that it creates expectations that it doesn't really fulfill. I mean this: the moment you walk in and see how they transformed the old Fuddrucker's space, you are expecting that the food -- already visible in almost 1/3 of the space -- will be a similar upgrade. The ten dollar lunch buffet with soft drink is just a bit over the usual China Buffet -- more expectations. I didn't hate the food because i avoided all of the American dishes {carved ham? onion rings?] and avoided those things that looked like they had been sitting there for a week or so untouched. The steamed flounder was good and the fried fish was excellent and it was Friday after all, so I became a catholic for the day. So my experience was just average. I will probably come back again some day but will not put this into my top ten with Quang and the like.

Alright, you are probably saying, "...crap, Luan is going do another buffet review blah, blah AGAIN?!" and you are RIGHT! I probably lose a few years of my life for doing so as well as friends and followers(not that I have that many to begin with). Anyway, onward with the review... Because there are quite a few reviews this restaurant and I don't want to repeat EVERYTHING already said, lets do some + and - on my personal taste(I am selfish that way)... + why you should eat here: * their selection is SECOND to NONE compare to ANY buffet in the Twin Cities. Judging from all my reviews, I can put down a lot of food - let me tell ya, I didn't even come close to taste 1/2 of the total selection...Must see to believe = equivalent to the ultimate thanksgiving (if there is a such thing in Asia). * UNLIMITED dim sum(spelling?) to try and don't blow your budget. * Mongolian BBQ selection is sheer madness. * The selection is EXACTLY the same for lunch but ONLY cost $10! * Fresh and BIG boiled shrimp! Yes, with heads still on! Yes, I love sucking the shrimp 'goodness'. If you don't know what I am talking about...lets just move on. * Steamed full blue crabs...Only thing missing was O-Bay...I don't think most Asians know what that is... - why you will hate me for suggesting for such a place * The service is near the bottom I have EVER seen ANYWHERE. Look I am a 1st generation of Vietnamese and understand language difficulties, but...I am convince 1/2 of the people who serve me there didn't understand what I said...including getting a glass of water for my wife and/or to cook my steak medium rare steak for the Mongolian BBQ... * It is rediculously crowded during peak eating hours. Hence go early! Re-think your life if you want to eat there @ 7:00pm on a Friday/Saturday night while the wait is probably around 45 min to 1 hr. * Mongolian BBQ section can ONLY cook 1 dish @ a time...which is plain idiotic in terms of efficiency...Last time I check it is year 2012, right?! * The shrimp is FULLY cooked in the Mongolian BBQ. Really?! You got all these raw chick/pork to be cooked and a place with OVER 100 line items...YET you serve cooked shrimp for Mongolian BBQ?! Really? That is like serving plastic forks @ a 5 star restaurant... In summary, I consider this is the #1 choice for ANY buffet in the Twin Cities. Yes, I like it better than 98# in Bloomington(which is going down hill as I speak). Highly recommend eating there for lunch so you can fall asleep when you go back to your work... P.S. I was told the people who own this place is the same people who own 98#s...Not sure that is true or not but it wouldn't surprise me.

My wife and I have been to this buffet several times and have not been disappointed. We enjoy the variety of offerings and the tastes do not "blend together" as with so many Asian-style buffets around town. By choosing small portions, you can experiment with entries you may never have considered and not have to worry about wasting food. Slow down, savor each speciality, then go back for seconds and more substantial serving sizes of those items that you really enjoyed in the first round. And there are many to choose from. The price is reasonable, table service is understandably limited to bringing your beverage and clearing used plates, but the wait persons are courteous and efficient. Highly recommend the Super Moon if you're yearning for this type of dining.

Food is very good. Mongolian stir fire is the best I've had since you can pick and choose the ingredients. The only bad thing is that in the three times I've been here in the past few months, the service is very poor. I've been half way through my meal before our beverages get there and then I've always had to ask for refills which again take 5-10 minutes. I find it better to bring your employ glass to the beverage station and wait for someone to arrive and fill it. I'm not sure why they don't make the beverage stations self-serve. It's a buffet!!!

I almost walked out when my plan to stop in for a quick lunch was met with a line inside the door 30ppl deep to get a table (and no empty tables to be seen)...I stuck it out though. The 30 person line only held me up 13 minutes, and there was a huge Koi pond to stare at whiole I was waiting. The seating situation was a little akward because they have 8 top table configurations (aside from plenty of booths and such) and I was seated with a sextet of elderly ladies speaking yiddish, who didn't appear to approve of my presence at "their" table. Whatever....by the time I finally got to get to eatting, they were almost done, anyway. I made the mistake of going straight for the Mongolian grill. I didn't realize when I was loading up my bowl that the line was around the corner (probably 8-10ppl) and only one dish was getting cooked at a time. It was slow going. another lady and I watched eachother's bowls while the other went back to the tables for various reasons, but 25 or so minutes later I had the best plate I've ever concocted. I think it was because my fixins had so much time to marinate in the sauce, and I got crazy with the cilantro. Beware of the "good stuff"...it's pepper. The buffet selection is pretty good. I tried most the chicken options, and some vegetarian sushi. Nothing blew my mind, except the wasabi, but just because I tend to eat stupidly large gobbs of it on my sushi (one reason you should never take my advise on sushi). It seemed about on par with Crazy Buffet, but with DimSum, and probably more sushi normally (although it was very picked over durring my lunch). It's $9 for weekday lunch and $13 for dinner ($1 more weekends. Beverage incl.), and I saw some people with coupons, which is nice, I'd probably be a fan, if my "quick lunch" would have happened in under an hour, but it's a nice place that I'll probably return to, so it's getting an A-OK, today.

I was just here the other day and the food seems to lost its flavor. I was here back when they first opened and lines were always out the door around to the sidewalk. The food was excellent back then. Now it seems that they've lost their sense of good taste. Eventhough it's like the biggest Chinese buffet in the Twin Cities and have a wide variety of chinese and american food, it all comes down to taste and they've totally lost their touch along the way. I tried the dim sum dumplings, yuk!

  • Leah G.

Dim Sum, Sushi and Stir Fry Bar, oh my. All of these things and more can be found at the new Super Moon Buffet where you have to give a nod to the two gigantic stone gargoyles, complete with bows, as you walk in the door. Gaze at the tranquil koi fish happily swimming around their pond as you wait in line to pay for the full stomach you will have in a mere 30 minutes. There is no way to try everything at Super Moon, there is so much food! It's awesome that they have dim sum during the day as it is hard to find it anywhere in Mpls. I recommend the shrimp puffs and the rice puff with bean curd from the dim sum bar. The sushi was good and plentiful, there was a team of men behind it slaving and rolling away to make sure it was stocked. Warning-stay away from the cream cheese wontons, they are heinous, don't waste the calories. All the food at Super Moon is pretty standard buffet food, they just have more of it. Next time I have to try the Stir Fry Bar.

I'm amazed at how many people give Super Moon a good rating for food. Based on customer reviews I've been wanting to try Super Moon for a while. The Koi pond in the lobby is very nice, the line to get in for dinner is surprisingly long and the food is shockingly bad. I love a good buffet as much as anyone and I don't expect the food at an all buffet all day restaurant to be extraordinary, but the food at Super Moon was down right BAD. I won't be going back, and I'd discourage anyone else. They definitely offer an amazing quantity of food, but the quality is so bad that the quantity does NOT compensate.

Very good food and the largest selection I have ever seen for a buffet.

As far as Chinese Buffets go this place is pretty impressive. Largest selection anywhere. Dim Sum, Sushi, Mongolian Grill. The coconut shrimp is a personal favorite. I also always have some clams and mussels. Place is ALWAYS very busy and the food turns over quickly.

This place is a unique experience in Chinese Buffet dining akin to an all-inclusive resort. Others have described this restaurant like Disney World and I would agree--in a bad way though. It seems like you have to wait in line due to all the diners clamoring over the food. There is also a line in the front of the place where you zig zag your way toward the counter and pay for entry before being seated (a drink is included in the price.) This is a nice thought, but I prefer a buffet where I walk right in to my table and then bolt for the buffet. The place is big and it was PACKED during out visit. Just like Disney World, there were groups of elderly people slowly meandering the food and children running around with soft-serve deserts smearing their faces. And it was loud. There is a cheeky coy pond and nice decorations that make it feel authentic. The table we were seated at needed to be wiped and it was a few minutes before anyone came by and asked what we wanted to drink. The food was pretty good. But I've had better. They have your typical Chinese buffet offerings with the addition of a selection of dim sum (not bad!) The sushi looked pretty fresh and the Mongolian BBQ had quite the selection of toppings. Overall; not bad. The prices were a smidgen higher than other buffets in the area. I prefer Crazy Buffet in Crystal. But this place is worth checking out if you are interested in something a little different.

This place had been recommended to me many, many times, and I finally decided to check it out recently. For the most part, I was not disappointed. Walking in the door with a surrounding koi pond was a nice surprise, and they have a huge assortment of food to choose from. The only thing that left me unsatisfied was the sushi. They have many different rolls, but the 5 or 6 of them that I tried were all very bland and disappointing. Everything I tried from the buffet was good, however...warm food, flavorful, nothing left a bad taste in my mouth. I will definitely go here again, especially since it is right by the office and easy to get to for lunch.

Went last week. My new favorite Chinese buffet. Was kind of busy when I went so service was a little slow but the food is GREAT for the price. Nice decor also. Loved the pork belly and pig ears. That's something you don't find in most places but if you like it like me, that by itself makes it worth the trip.

  • Trisha S.

Hands down the decor is great and the place is huge. The food is alright nothing to crave really but it's a decent place to go, especially for large groups because this is the largest chinese buffet I have ever seen.

One of the better Chinese buffets in the Minneapolis area. Really good selection and really clean. They take visa and MasterCard which is a plus. Huge koi pond makes any wait time an experience. They also have a Mongolian style grill which is also all you can eat as well! With the money!!

The food wasn't good at all ! I went to the magnolian grill and my food was cold and my friends food was burnt . That place is VERY overrated I will not go there EVER again !

When their best dish is imatation crab in mayonnaise that says a lot because this dish is good everywhere. If u got cash to burn then go ahead otherwise I rather eat at Peking(dine in) in St. Paul or hibachi (buffet) in fridely. I will definitely not returned. Too Far of a drive for mediocre food that cost more that other buffet.

  • Nox V.

All You Can Eat E. coli; pretty sure that is the seasoning they used on the chicken and pork. I've not physically spit food out after one bite since I was a child...since before kindergarten, probably. It was not a nostalgic moment. I thought I would at least be safe with the grilled asparagus... I thought wrong. I may have been made deathly ill. If I never write another review after this, you know why. The soft serve ice cream looked promising, but I had done enough risk taking by that point.

I'm going to compare this buffet with other BUFFETS around the metro area, and can I say this is one of the best around. If I were to solely rate this place for the quality of food, then I would have ranked it at 2-stars, however that is not the case. The variety and abundance of food was quite appealing to me. I have never seen a buffet in the Metro area serve chicken feet, sorts of dim sum, duck, and other delicacies that one would find in an authentic Chinese restaurant or even a restaurant in China. Unfortunately, the service can be somewhat terrible at times. My group of 4 ate here just the other day and I experienced one of the worst services at any eatery. To start it off, he brought us our 4 glasses of water with his hands in one trip. The water was spilling everywhere as he was walking to our table so when he got to our table, we decided to help him transfer the waters from his hands to the table. So I asked him if he would like some help, and he nodded, and as I reached out to grab a water, he spilled all the waters on our table. Then he did what no food service employee should do, he blammed us to his supervisor who happened to walk by for him spilling water on our table. Moreover, throughout the time there, our table was usually stacked with plates, our cups always empty, and his awkward self always muttering the sound "uhhhh" before taking our stacks of plates as if it were a warning sound he was going to carry a huge stack of plates off our table. As a result, we did not pay any tip. Rather I decided it was only fair to take the money on the table that was put there to remind one to tip. Other than that, if you are a buffet goer, this is the place to go for a large variety of food.

Horrible service. I came in as a family of 5 and they never took our plates or refilled our glasses unless we waved them down or brought it to them. Even the tables around us were complaining about their selective service. Food variety was great, but either salty or bland. Dishes I did like were hit and miss with each new replacement. Dim sum section were misplaced everywhere and repeats. Pretty place to look at, but I'm never going back.

It sure looks nice when you walk in and all of the food is displayed so well that I was quite optimistic. However, it is pretty bad. The food is bland, greasy and not unique. The meats all have a spongy texture and no taste at all. The fried rice isn't even good and any idiot can pull off a decent fried rice. The desserts are terrible and the dishes like "Sweet & Sour Chicken" or "Sesame Chicken" don't taste like anything until you add sauce. There were only a few decent things: eggplant, fried bananas, Kai-lan, and the Mongolian style grill. Honestly, if I were forced to go back, I'd just eat from the grill so at least I could add what I wanted, and know that the meat would be prepared with just what I add to my bowl. The service was fairly slow for getting drinks and the server was not friendly. The place is packed but the food is always stocked. Is it worth it? I suppose if you don't mind unlimited unhealthy & bland food. I left still hungry and feeling slightly ill. Would not return by choice.

First visit was on a weeknight and the food was well-stocked and fresh. The second visit was on a weekend and they ran out of plates! The food was not well-stocked and some looked to have been sitting there way past its prime. Taste-wise, I'd say it's on par with most other Chinese buffets in the area. There's so much selection that even if there are items not up to par, you're bound to find something that you like. I did not find a "WOW" dish at this buffet.

Over price but food was good. And the decoration was nice ;) the host person was retarded though. Had a party of 11 & there was this huge table that was used by a couple. And the host person pretty much tried to kick them out to fit our party. Thought it was rude and sad..our party didnt mind splitting up into two tables they didn't have to rush the couple. Also if they were smart they wouldn't have seated the couple in such a big table in the first place.

This place is an average buffet. It's filled with lots of average tasting dishes. Nothing special and definitely not worth the 20$.

Wayyyyyyyyy overpriced. I would love to go into detail but I'll say this: it was $15.99 for an adult on Saturday afternoon. The food definitely wasn't terrible but it was NOT $15.99/person good. When we walked in, the lady at the register answered the phone while the other gentleman with us was in the middle of speaking to her. RUDE. The Koi pond is a nice touch and they have tables big enough for groups (there were 9 of us) and the restrooms were clean. Those two things, however, were the highlight of the meal.

Super Moon Buffet is great. You walk in and there is a huge koi pond, so already you walk in impressed. You pay an average buffet price then you see the massive offerings of food. It really has it all, start with your basic Chinese food then add in sushi and a Mongolian style BBQ/stir-fry. Foods for everyone with tons of variety. I will definitely be going back soon.

  • Adam B.

I visit a place like this maybe 4-5 times a year, and usually try to sample a bit of everything while there. That is impossible at Super Moon. You've got a Mongolian-style grill, sushi bar, 5 or 6 rows of standard buffet fare, a salad bar, and what I would call a "unique" section with traditional Asian fare you won't see at most buffets. I had a mix of sushi and some of the classics (fried rice, sesame chicken, vegetables, won tons). All was above average from what I expected. Price I paid for lunch buffet was less than $10. Also a clean, modern atmosphere complete with a Koi fish pond at entrance and exit. I will have to return soon to try the Mongolian, and explore the "unique" section. We'll see how the quality holds up the longer it is open, but as of now, it's the best large Asian buffet I've had in the Cities.

  • Tamara T.

I don't know why I thought this might be a good experience. I have yet to find a buffet to offer something tasty. I sampled several items, and they all had the same bland, buffet quality you can find everywhere. The number of selections was large, and seemingly a lot of variety. You can get some American items such as pizza, mashed potatoes, gravy, french fries, and they had baked ham. But I was going for asian food. The dishes I expected to be spicy had no flavor (General Tso Chicken, Sesame Chicken) and the sweet dishes were far too cloying. The Hot and Sour soup was very disappointing as it offered neither hot, nor sour, nor any real flavour at all. The restaurant was fairly populated, and I think if one is simply looking for quantity, or to feed young people with no real surprises, this would be a good bet. I would have to say my expectations were met; I wasn't expecting a great dining experience, and Super Moon provided a mediocre, bland experience, as is common among buffet places I've encoutered.

was a regular patron to buffets, its peak performance would worth a 7 star with $10 for seafood, lamb, steak, hibachi, dimsum, exotic fruits like Lychee, and sushi; last visit s a 5 star and a friend's complaint about bland food makes it 4.

Went for lunch on a Monday. HUGE selection, most of it better than expected. Waited a tad too long for our sodas and to get our old plates removed, but overall one of the better buffets we've experienced. People watching was great, too! Lots of plate-mounders.

We were looking for Fuddrucker's. . . . and discovered it is now the Super Moon Buffet. It was good. The food was plentiful and the staff attentive. I think it cost us (a couple geezers) about $20-22. The hot and sour soup was nice, though a little more vinegar would have pleased me. I have no complaints and the kids in the group enjoyed it. I don't like the idea of huge buffets but I would go back to this one.

The best buffet in MN. Has just about everything. Sushi bar, dim sum bar, Mongolian grill, salad bar, and exotic foods. Also fruit bar. No other place beats it. The only thing they are missing is pho.lol

since 98 lb has been slacking off , this place is pretty good, they do offer a lot of foods , from the Chinese dish, to dim sum dishes , shu shi, and the grill , I've recently heard that they offer good sea foods on Saturday, can't wait to try it.

We went there today for our graduates celebration of sorts. Their was 17 of us and we paid for 16 because one attendee is pregnant and unable to eat at this time. The cashier (Alna) yelled and screamed at us and accused us of not paying for 17. He was rather embarrassing and my grandsons auntie paid him just to shut his big angry embarrassing false accusation mouth. The place was crowded and we had to wait for awhile even out the door on the sidewalk. Was it worth it? Absolutely not, the food was very bland. The ice cream was the best tasting on the menu because how do you go wrong with ice cream. My grandchildren toyed around with the food though we paid almost $10.00 for them to eat. Would we go back again? Heck to the No. Would we recommend others to eat at this restaurant? Absolutely Not and even if they offered us free meals for the harassment and embarrassment. If the food had been good perhaps the treatment could have or would have been ignored and we could have just considered the source, a young ignorant untrained cashier who doesn't know how to treat customers. ~~Not sure how long this place has been in business but if it goes out quickly I will definitely understand why because they can't cook and they have the respect for their customers.

This place is huge, one of the biggest buffets I've ever been too. One of the good things about it, is they don't load it up with a bunch of American food options....its CHINESE afterall. Though I never eat salad at a chinese buffet, the salad bar looked awesome. They had plenty of authentic chinese selections that I wasn't daring enough to try. The biggest disappointment was the foods traditionally found at chinese buffets. Fried rice, lo mein, sesame chicken, egg rolls, peppered chicken, beef and brocolli and so on....ranged from disgusting to okay. I've gone twice now, and have yet to try the mongolian grill so can't comment on that but it looks like slow going to get any food off of it. The sushi was okay, nothing raw, the mussells were fantastic and they had tons of other options that I was too full to try so odds are I'll be going there again. Its definitely worth trying, though I would go during the week as nights and weekends are ridiculously overpriced.
